Earl Grey (or Chai) Shortbread CookiesThey're not traditional, but I've been making these cookies for the holidays for years and they're always a big hit! The original recipe is from Food Network, but I've tweaked the methodology a bit. I've also noted alternate ingredients to make a chai version, which many people like more than the original! Cranberry TrifleI found this recipe on SpendwithPennies.com (great site!) I first made this for our work holiday party, and let me tell you it did not disappoint! I have added Lobster and Crabmeat to this to make it seafood Mac substituting Old Bay for the seasoning. Many Variations and Cheeses you can substitute. Oreo TrufflesThis is a yummy bite of chocolate. It's very easy to make. I have found that using a good chocolate for dipping can make a big different and have been using Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips. Cranberry Date Oat Bars with Vanilla GlazeA delicious bar for the holiday season. My family thought they were better a day or two after baking as they softened up a bit. A few notes: - I plan to add some cinnamon to the crust next time I make it. Will probably start with 1 teaspoon and see how it works. - Be sure the line the pan with parchment paper. Since the pan is ungreased it was challenging to get the bars out. - The crust is very versatile. I think a nice date filling would work too. Submitted by: "Kate Shaughnessy"
Zesty Lemon Zahtar SoupThis vegetarian soup is zesty, tangy, and healthy. It can be made vegan easily and makes for great leftovers. You can make this soup your own with various ingredients. The key ingredients that make this soup spectacular are the Zesty Lemon seasoning, the Zahtar seasoning, and feta (sold as a block in brine). Prioritize these three ingredients above all others! I tend to cook on instinct, so the vegetables and protein I use vary with every batch, but the seasoning and feta are a constant that always make the soup positively divine. It's also super convenient, as you can have the soup done in 25 minutes, serve to the whole family, or make a big batch to eat yourself as leftovers all week! Submitted by: "Charlie Larson"
